About Sapporo City Jazz

Sapporo will become the town of the jazz.
Hokkaido is said that love for the ragtime is strong in Japan.
With the advent of the Pacific Music Festival, Rising Sun and many others, along with the plan to make Sapporo a center of culture, sightseeing, and resources was laid to bring to life the Spporo City Jass in July of 2007.
In the period of 16 days from July 21 to August 5, five programs were carried out at Ohdori Park, Nakajima Park, Sapporo city area, and Sapporo Art Park. In spite of the first time, about 65,000 people came and became the big topic.
The Sapporo city jazz executive committee plans to use this years festival to make Sapporo not only a center for music and culture, but also a center for internationalization and globalize.
Ecology & Music
To us, music and Jazz are the world; so we too care about continuing to be able to listen to our beautiful music by always thinking about the environment.

  • Ecological activity will strengthen at the each event; Classification of the garbage, the saving and reuse of supplies will strengthen.
  • PROJECT2:
  • There will be a workshop that makes the musical instrument using recyclable waste such as empty cans.

  • In WHITE ROCK MUSIC TENT LIVE, there is a charity live for the purpose of the contribution to environmental groups.

  • A cooperating radio program that citizens and artists think about an environmental problem in the side of music is planed.
